There are two different ways to do this depending on how long ago you upgraded to Windows 11.

If you are one of those users who want to go back to Windows 10, you have two options: downgrade or clean install. Downgrading means that you can revert to Windows 10 without losing your files, settings, and apps. Clean installing means that you have to erase everything on your PC and start from scratch with Windows 10.

If you upgraded to Windows 11 within the last 10 days, you can easily roll back to Windows 10 from the Settings app, restoring your old environment.

Select the No, thanks button, when it offers to check for updates, and You will see some warnings and reminders about what you will lose if you downgrade to Windows 10.

How to Extend Windows 11 Rollback Time

Well by default Microsoft allow 10 days time frame to test Windows 11. If you find it’s not for you, then you can easily downgrade Windows 11 to 10 using go back option. Well, 10 days is not enough for you to decide if Windows 11 is better than Windows 10 or need more time, to test the latest Windows 11,  you can Extend the 10 Days Rollback Period to 60 Days in Windows 11.

Note: you need to perform the following command within 10 day time frame from upgrade to extend the rollback time to 60 days.

  • Press Windows key + S and search for PowerShell, right-click on the PowerShell select run as administrator,
  • Run the command DISM /Online /Get-OSUninstallWindow to view the current time limit for the Go Back feature.
  • Next, run the command DISM /Online /Set-OSUninstallWindow /Value:50 to Extend Windows 11 Rollback Time 50 days. You can replace the 50 with your number.

This option is for those who missed the 10-day window to use the recovery option, or who prefer a clean install of Windows 10. However, this option will erase everything on your PC,  You’ll get a completely fresh Windows installation. So make sure you have a backup of your important data before proceeding.

  • First, download the Media Creation Tool from the Windows 10 download page here.
  • Run the downloaded file and accept the terms of service.
  • Click on the Upgrade this PC now option, then hit the Next button.

Next, the Media Creation Tool will start downloading Windows 10 files from the Microsoft server. This may take some time depending on your internet speed.

Once the download is complete, Click Accept to agree to terms of service of using Windows 10.

Next, You’ll have to select “Nothing” on the “Choose What to Keep” screen and Click the Yes button to confirm the option. Windows will erase your entire system drive, including your personal files. Ensure you have backup of your important files.

And finally, The last step is to click the Install button. Windows will reboot, and you’ll see the standard Windows 10 installation process just as if you were installing Windows 10 on a new PC with no operating system.

If your Windows 10 license was previously activated on this device, it should reactivate automatically once you’re connected to the internet. In case automatic activation doesn’t occur, you may need to enter your product key manually to activate Windows 10.

After downgrading to Windows 10, it’s essential to update your drivers and software to ensure compatibility and security. Visit the manufacturer’s website for your computer and hardware components to download and install the latest drivers. Additionally, update any third-party software you use to the latest versions.
